"I believe the 10 Cents a Meal program has very positively impacted our ability to get our fruits into schools throughout Northwest Michigan and beyond, primarily through Cherry Capital Foods. We are presently storing significant quantities of apples so that we can provide them throughout the entire school year—apples that otherwise would end up being shipped, some after processing, around the country, if not the world. Instead, they’re being enjoyed by Michigan school students, most of them locally!
